FHA Appraisal/Inspections Part 2

I blogged previously about the FHA Appraisal/Inspection process and why you should have a professional home inspection. But you may want to know, what exactly does an FHA appraiser look for during their process? Here are some of the things they look at:

  • Broken windows

  • Peeling paint

  • Garage door functionality

  • Electrical wiring and outlets

  • Functional plumbing, toilets and faucets - plumbing leaks

  • Roofing damage

  • Structural damage, cracks in the foundation

  • Attic spaces, ventilation

This is not a comprehensive list. And it’s somewhat subjective. One appraiser might raise items another may not. And again, this appraisal/inspection process is not as comprehensive as a professional home inspection. Don’t rely on this to make a decision on the biggest purchase of your life.
