Which Property Tax Exemptions Will Automatically Renew For Cook County This Year?

Well, the short answer, is all of them.

Homeowners, Senior Exemption, Senior Freeze, Persons with Disabilities and Veterans with Disabilities will all automatically renew in Cook County.

The automatic renewal of these exemptions is a result of passing SB 685, which was signed by Governor Pritzker and passed by the Illinois General Assembly. Prior to this, for renewal of some of these exemptions, the homeowner had to submit paperwork to the County for re-approval.

Homeowners will receive a postcard or a letter in March confirming which exemptions will be automatically renewed.
