De-cluttering Your Home For Sale
You never realize how much stuff you have until you get ready to sell your home and move. It’s hard to know where to start. Here are some tips for de-cluttering your home as you get ready to list and sell your home.
1) Organize your drawers and closets - Buyers don’t just walk through the home without opening closet doors and drawers. Make sure that your closets are organized, so if a buyer opens a closet door, they aren’t hit with an avalanche of things! Same goes for things just thrown in corners or otherwise disorganized. You don’t want potential buyers to think you don’t have enough storage.
2) Lock up important papers and valuables - Agents try to stay with their clients during showings, but you don’t want anything personal, confidential or valuable out for the taking. Make sure you secure anything you don’t want anyone else to see or take.
3) Keep a couple of emergency totes handy - Sometimes you may get a last minute showing request, and maybe your home isn’t as clean as you would like. Have a tote or two handy to toss items in, in case you need to clean up quickly.
4) Remove personal items that make the house your home - When buyers come into a home, they want to feel as if they could live there. Remove anything political, family photos, or anything else that says it’s your home.
